Open Source Computer Club

Meet, co-work, and connect with fellow open source software users and the open source-curious. Drop in, bring a laptop, or try out the open source computer on-site. Everyone welcome!
*As the term has wrapped up,  Friday April 17, 2026 was the last meeting of the Open Source Computer club, for now. The computer club will be on pause for the time being. We so appreciate everyone who joined in at our monthly meetings.

About the event

Curious about Open Source computing? Or already a fan? The KMDI Makerspace hosts a monthly meet-up where Open Source enthusiasts of all levels can connect face-to-face. Think of it as a casual space to co-work, swap tips, and grow an offline community.

You’ll also get a chance to check out the Makerspace itself and explore the free tools we offer—from 3D printing to electronics prototyping—that can expand your projects and experiments.

The club is hosted by Cookie Brunel, Makerspace Technician and Linux enthusiast, whose interests touch on movements like degrowth, degoogling, permacomputing, and anti-surveillance.

Bring a laptop, bring your questions, or just bring yourself. No set agenda—just conversation, collaboration, and the opportunity to try out Linux and other open source software on a shared computer if you don’t have one of your own.

All U of T students, staff, and faculty welcome!
