KMDI Workshop – Ambient Activities for Long-Term Care Environments: “Journeys to Engagement”
Fri, September 30, 2016 @ 12:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Ambient Activity Technologies (AAT), in association with the University of Toronto, is developing a non-pharmaceutical approach to manage responsive behaviours (e.g., hitting, screaming) among persons living with moderate to severe levels of dementia in long-term care (LTC) facilities. AAT augments the LTC environment by providing ambient (available in the environment for easy access) activity experiences that are personalized, appropriate and meaningful to residents.
The purpose of this event is to share our team’s cutting edge research and product development of interactive technologies designed for people with dementia living in LTC. Attendees will learn about the problems and needs driving our creations, see live demonstrations of the technologies and have a chance to interact with them. We will also discuss our research approach for evaluation and how to effectively implement these technological interventions into LTC environments.
