Tero Karppi

Tero Karppi is an Associate Professor of Critical Computation and Digital Media at the University of Toronto, Canada. Karppi’s work examines the breaking points of our network culture, from social media platforms to AI, and the ways in which connectivity is reenvisioned. His current book project focuses on the building of the Solar System Internet. Karppi is the author of Disconnect: Facebook’s Affective Bonds (Minnesota, 2018), one of the authors of Undoing Networks (Minnesota/Meson, 2021), and one of the editors of Reckoning with Social Media (Rowman & Littlefield, 2021). He has also co-edited three journal special issues, most recently “Shifting Attention” for Science, Technology & Human Values.
